Achievements


  • Ten new research projects worth about Rs. 1.50 crore were sanctioned to BAD by different funding agencies during last two years.
  • Developed and released 14 appropriate rice varieties, 7 varieties of groundnut, two each of maize, maura, nigar, wheat and one each of pigeon pea, mustard black gram, horse gram, gundli, soyabean, French bean and cowpea.
  • Rice varieties Birsa Dhan-108, Birsa Vikas Dhan-109, Birsa Vikas Dhan-110 and Birsamati: maize variety Birsa Vikas Makka-2 and mustard variety Shivani, released by Jharkhand State Seed Committe in 2003, have been notified by Central Seed Committe, Govt. of India on March 21, 2005. Birsa Vikas Dhan-109 has been released by State Seed Committe of Rajasthan and Gujrat also. Similarly, State Seed Committees of Tamilnadu and Rajasthan have released birsa Vikas Dhan-110.
  • Dissemination of location-specific production technologies of crops under rainfed and limited irrigation farming.
  • Strengthening of Directorate of Farms & Seed Production for production and distribution of different categories of seeds.
  • Generation and transfer of Integrated Nutrient Management, Integrated Pest Management and Water Management technologies.
  • Development of improved breed of Pig (T & D) adaptable under local bio-physical and socio-economic situations.
  • Need-based backyard poultry and integrated pig-fish culture technologies.
  • Suitable agro-forestry models for plateau region.
  • Mass propagation of plants through tissue culture at Bio-technology Centre.
  • Round the year multifaceted training programmes for human resource development in agriculture and allied disciplines.
  • Special commendation made by I.C.A.R for N.S.P. revival, N.A.T.P. performance and identification & validation of I.T.K.
  • On BAU proposal, Government of Jharkhand is providing land and financial support for setting up of a college of Agriculture in Santhalpargana region. new Department of Aquaculture was started in the faculty of Veterinary Sciences.
  • Integrated Development of Horticulture in Ranchi and Hazaribag district was launched with the active support of Central Govt., State Govt. and NGOs.
  • Performance of BAU components of IVLP was rated the best in country.
