Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC)

     The “Agricultural Technology Information Centre” (ATIC) is a “Single window” support system linking the various units of a research institution with intermediary users and end users in decision making and problem solving exercises. The ATICs are established with the following three objectives.

  • To Provide a single window delivery system for the products and species available from the institution to the farmers and other interested group as a process of innovativeness in technology dissemination at the institutional level.
  • To facilitate direct access to the farmer to the institutional resources available in terms of technology, advice, technology products etc, for reducing technology dissemination losses.
  • To create a mechanism for feed back from the users of the institute.

     The ATIC started functioning from 07.12.2001 at Birsa Agricultural University , main campus, Knake, Ranchi . Through this centre technological inputs including seeds, planting materials medicinal plants, fertilizers etc. worth of Rs 87,79,900/- and implements like sprayer, Fowda, Horticulture Kit, sprayer and soil testing kit of Rs 13,01,700/- were sold to the farmers of the state during the period under report. About 955 farmers were advised on various agriculture, horticulture and veterinary related problems through Toll free call. During the year 2004-2005 about 1015 farmers visited the A.T.I.C. center for information and suggestions. A total 200 and 80 sample was diagnosed under plant and veterinary clinic respectively. A permanent exhibition center was developed in which agril. implements, improved varieties of seeds, posters and charts have been displayed for education to the visitors. Around 7189 copies of unpriced publications like folders and leaflets on Rice, Pulse, Horticulture crops, fishery, Piggery, Soil testing and Forestry were distributed to farmer.
