| a) Variety Development: Directly contributed to breeding of the following maize cultivars: |
-
Central Release-Ganga-11, Ganga-5, Ganga-9, Jawahar, Kisan, Vikram, Sona, Dhawal, Shakti, Ratan, MCU 508, Diara-3, Shaktiman-1(QPM Hybrid).

- State Release-Diara Comp, Mansar, Hunis Composite, Nld Composite, African tall (Fodder maize).
|
Many of these cultivars continue to occupy large areas in the country.

b) Maize Research Management, Co-ordination and seed Production Activities: As leader of Indian Maize Program, played an important role in development and
release of a large number of cultivars in different maturity groups in India, including high yielding single-cross hybrids, three way hybrids and other varieties/hybrids-including Quality Protein Maize (QPM) hybrids for industrial uses.

c) Encouraged development of private-public sector collaboration, provided consultancies and strengthened seed production activities in private sector.

d) Under his leadership of All India Maize Improvement Program, the maize productivity tripled (from 7 Qtl/ha to 21 Qtl/ha) and production doubled (from 7 million tonne to 14 million tonne) during last one decade.
